LTC Nurse Management Training
Part 1: "Introduction to Geriatric Nursing"
January 22, 2009 - Austin

We had a great turn-out last summer for the nurse management training and are providing these seminars again.  The first of the three-part series will be January 22, 2009 in Austin.

Are you new to nursing in long-term care (LTC) or in a nursing management position?  TAHSA has a great training opportunity for you.  A series of trainings will be held to give an introduction to geriatric nursing, the rules and regulations related to nursing and leadership skills and management tips.

Part 1 of the three part LTC Nurse management training will give an overview of geriatric nursing in long-term care.  This informative session will also include a section on cultural change and resident centered care, end of life issues, incident reporting and will take a look at legal aspects of nursing.  Rose Ireland, TAHSA Director of Clinical Regulations will be one of the great speakers for this new seminar. 2009 Leadership Conference
"Leading the Charge - Developing a High Impact Workforce"
February 18-20, 2009 - New Braunfels

Join us for our annual conference in a retreat-type setting for nursing facility administrators, assisted living managers, housing managers, nurses, social workers, dietary staff and any other managers within the long term care setting. This is an all-inclusive package that includes hotel room, meals, breaks, hand-outs and continuing education credit. This will be a very interactive meeting and we highly encourage you to bring the management team from your organizations to participate in this educational experience. It will be held at T Bar Resort and Conference Center in New Braunfels.

This year's conference will feature speaker, Jeanne Sexson who will speak on several different topics including coaching staff, employee empowerment, productivity and employee retention as well as how to find a healthy balance in your work and life.

This conference will also look at the new Millenial Generation and how each generation works together.

Representatives from AAHSA will present "Better Jobs, Better Care" program.  This program was created to support changes in aging services to help improve the instability and chronic shortages of front-line workers.

MDS Certification Seminar
March 11-13, 2009 - Austin

TAHSA/EIA is offering this popular three-day intensive session again in 2009.  Back is popular speaker, Ron Orth, to help you become MDS RAC-CT certified.  This course is a joint effort with AANAC, our training partner.

TAHSA's Rose Ireland, Director of Clinical/Regulatory Affairs:
• Highly recommends TAHSA members to consider sending a staff person to this course.
• Has concerns that communities continue to have errors on the MDS assessment.
• Says these errors can reduce reimbursement levels and impacts QRS scores.

Don't miss this unique opportunity!  For more information and to register today, click here.
